The artist is known for images of dreamy large-scale beaches and romantic European vistas – faraway places that impart a nostalgic mood. Self Reflections conveys the core purpose of his art. The brain is spray-coated in a glossy chameleon pigment, inspiring people to reflect on their own lives. The paint shifts colour as the viewer moves around the brain, and the mirror-like surface alters the reflection. Much like our own brains, every image in life is viewed differently from one person to the next, as our individual networks, composed of memories and experiences, form our current thoughts, emotions and perspectives on our reality. jensennagle.com...

Brain on… was sculpted with hollow steel squares, eliciting both the strength and delicacy of the brain. The squares strip away distractions, leaving a powerful vision and exploration of the human brain, adding an element of mystery and abstraction. Each square represents the trials and tribulations of life; the four corners are the intellectual, emotional, physical and spiritual dimensions of human beings. The surface represents the changes and aging of the brain, still beautiful in all its imperfections. rainerlagemann.com ...

The artist decided to join The Brain Project because dementia is present in his immediate environment. By participating in the project, he hopes to contribute and support research on brain disease at Baycrest. He used the rusty hammer heads in his sculpture as a metaphor for the human brain. Over the years, the iron hammer head develops a layered structure of corrosion products, which continue to generate all over the areas – comparable to Alzheimer’s and dementia, a progressive degenerative disease of the brain, in which thinking and memory become seriously impaired. stephane-langlois.com...

The inspiration and subject matter for The Conscious Traveler derives from the exotic travels of one of Kleinburg, Ontario’s most avid world-wanderers, Joseph Gottdenker. From the jungles of central Africa, where leopards lurk on slinky branches, to the sun drenched plains of Giza and the Thai Temple Gods who protect the Royal Palace of Bangkok, the sculpture pulsates with the insatiable wanderlust of its muse. It’s a testament to a man always on the move in a world that’s rich with visual stimulation. ianleventhal.com...
