Laura Bundesen has had a love affair of 30+ years with fabric, thread and colour. Using these elements, she creates richly textured mixed media pieces, with a current focus on Neuro Art. Working with a functional map of the human brain as a reference, Bundesen recycles scraps of fabric into a collage and then embellishes it with hand embroidery, trim and beads, working directly on artist’s canvas. Improvising as the work progresses, she keeps the mystery of the brain’s inner workings in mind. Her contemporary 2-D Neuro Art pieces are then stretched and painted. Bundesen’s work has been purchased by neurosurgeons, neurologists and neuroscientists, as well as survivors of traumatic brain injury and brain cancer. Bundesen lives in Massachusetts and exhibits widely in the Northeastern United States....

Hunt Slonem tends to embrace the ephemeral beauty of nature, a characteristic that brings a nurturing, spiritual effect to his creations. Throughout his extensive career as a New York artist, Slonem has favored the subject of exotic birds, rabbits, and butterflies. Lately, his compositions have consisted of flat spaces with simple forms pushed to the front of the picture plane. The artist creates exotic forms with expressive and highly textural brushstrokes that are full of intense color, loosely inspired by artists of the German Expressionism movement such as Ernst Ludwig and Emil Nolde. ...

I’m So Neuronic gives form to inspired flares and comets that energize the universe within the mind. Here, the mysterious volcanic grey organism is colour coded: the rational, analytical left side and the emotional, intuitive right side. Ecstatic explosions of awareness are ignited by memories seen just below the surface. Stretching to make sense of, and make use of, the network of memories collected and filed. To remember is to see. To live. As seismic eruptions slow down, synapses are disrupted and neurons interrupted. Essential, intimate synergies are lost. The gift undone, the lava cools....

Romero has created a visual language of hope and happiness all its own that is relatable to all, inspiring millions. Self-taught at an early age, he painted on scraps of paper or cardboard or any medium he could find before coming into his own and travelling to Paris where he was introduced to the works of Matisse and Picasso. His appreciation of these masters influenced him to create an iconic style that The New York Times said: “exudes warmth, optimism and love.” Romero’s work has been exhibited in galleries and museums in over 100 countries, including the Salon de la Société Nationale des Beaux Arts exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre in 2008 and 2010. In 2013, Maria Elena and Carlos Slim Domit invited Romero...

The inspiration behind Shattered is a swirly mosaic made from tiny pieces of mirror full of light and reflections. The artist included some vintage pieces of jewelry, buttons and china to serve as a reminder of past generations. The mirrors allow the sculpture the illusion of constant movement and changing reflections. It also forces the viewer to see themself in the artwork, reminding them any of us could become a victim of dementia. My wish is that no one person will look in the mirror one morning and not recognize the face looking back at them....
