Erich Ferguson

Brain #: 352

Artist Erich Ferguson deliberately minimized the artwork and design in this piece and included negative spacing to create a feeling of loneliness, which is associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia. The design was kept centred, streaming from the pineal gland (3rd eye), where black and white photographs symbolize lost or diminished memories. The images have significance: The CN Tower is the exhibit location; the bank tower pays homage to sponsor Scotiabank and its support for music and art programs; and the pine tree is an iconic image by a Group of Seven artist.
