This sculpture, made with flameworked glass, is symbolic of the expansion of our knowledge and the extension of our vision and understanding. The brain might be a problem but it is also the solution.
Mathieu Grodet is a glass artist living and working in Toronto, Canada. Born in Orleans, France, he first studied art at the Visual Art Institute of Orleans before discovering glass in 1999. Grodet apprenticed in some of Europe’s leading glass studio’s. It was here where he fell in love with traditional Venetian techniques which have become the basis for his series, the “Wig Wag Bowl”.
Grodet’s work is more than aesthetically pleasing from a form perspective. It makes a statement, sometimes figuratively and sometimes literally. He marries form, function, and decoration in a unique manner that provokes discussion and often inspires debate. Grodet is represented by the Sandra Ainsley Gallery.
