This piece is inspired by the importance of community and creating safe places to offer and receive support. A strong sense of community adds real value to our lives. It helps us feel more connected to the world around us and makes a great difference in our happiness and our health. It has the power to nourish relationships and cultivate opportunities in a meaningful way. Real communities help us feel a part of something and give us the ability to recognize, unquestionably, that we belong.
Katrina Elena is an abstract artist currently working and residing in Oakville, Ont. Working predominantly in acrylics and mixed media, she draws her inspiration from the natural world focusing merely on form, movement and texture.
Elena’s fluid paintings are meditative in practice and are largely based around her love for colour and the powerful ability it has to generate emotions and connections. Her paintings echo themes of reflection and self-exploration, and seek to forge a journey of retrospection.
As an emerging artist, she has showcased some of her works throughout the Greater Toronto Area including at Blank Canvas Gallery, Graven Feather and Beaux-Arts Brampton.
