Artist Julie Moon’s contribution to The Brain Project is a highly decorative piece which has an underlying theme relating to the movement and repetition of thought. Motifs and patterns draw from earlier art movements that attempted to visualize aspects of culture and technology.
Julie Moon is a ceramic artist based in Toronto. Her practice is continually inspired by her process, materials, form and surface.
Moon completed her undergraduate degree at OCAD, now OCAD University, in 2005 and received her Master of Fine Art’s degree from the New York State College of Ceramics at Alfred University.
She has exhibited extensively in Canada and the United States. Her work has been shown at the Birch Contemporary and Narwhal Art Projects in Toronto, MASS Gallery Austin, the Society of Contemporary Craft in Pittsburgh and the Clay Studio of Philadelphia.
